Annuals, Herbs & Veggies
June update: most of these plants are gone for 2008
Annuals
Angelonia species, Angelonia
Looks like a delicate orchid in flower, in colors of pink, purple, or
white. To 2' tall, loves sunny, hot, dry conditions. Blooms early summer
to frost.
Ceratotheca triloba, South African Foxglove
A regal plant with striking spikes of large, downward-facing funnel
flowers in a soft shade of lavender (cultivar ‘Alba’, white,
is also available). Beautiful tri-lobed foliage makes a statement by
itself, as well! So large, it makes even a new garden look mature! Sun.

Emilia javanica, Tassel Flower
Small, red/scarlet flowers look like little tassels on long, wiry stems
from a basal clump of foliage. Great cut flower. Extremely drought tolerant.
Sun. 12"-18"h
Ipomoea batatas 'Blackie' and 'Margarita', Sweet
Potato Vine
Great trailer for containers with large leaves, dark chocolate brown
('Blackie') or golden yellow ('Margarita').
Ipomoea x multifida, Cardinal Climber
A delicate-looking vine that can climb up to 20' in one season, covered
with tubular red flowers from mid-summer through frost. Attracts hummingbirds
and butterflies. A great backdrop against a fence!
Lablab purpureus, Hyacinth Bean
A fast-growing climbing vine with bright pink, pea-like flowers followed
by large, shiny purple seed pods. Beautiful in flower and then in seed!
Can cover an area 10' x 10' in one season.
Lantana species, Lantana
Bring the tropics right into your backyard with the sultry colors of
Lantana. Covered in blooms of red, orange, yellow and every combination
thereof, Lantana loves it hot and dry. To 2'. Great for containers for
all-summer bloom!

Like a delicate-looking, miniature snapdragon - light and
airy, to 15" tall, magenta flowers with a gold throat. A cool weather
annual.
Osteospermum, Cape Daisy
Striking, large daisy flowers with elegant form and coloration. White,
pink and purple cultivars - all-season bloom! 1'-2' tall.

The classic climbing vine! Orange with black eye. Fast growing! Sun
to part shade. 5'-8'h x w.
Tithonia rotundifolia, Mexican Sunflower
A must-have plant if you love butterflies
- because butterflies LOVE this plant! Stunning orange flowers smother
this huge plant by mid-summer, and keep going until frost. Stake when
